1998 - The Partridge Inn

$10.00

The Partridge Inn has been a Summerville landmark since 1870 and was built as a private residence by Jonathon Meigs. In 1899, Maurice W. Partridge converted his home to an inn, which became the winter resort for many wealthy northerners. It began as a two-story house, but expanded five times before its completion in 1929 to five floors and 129 rooms. Rescued from a 1980 demolition due to deterioration, the inn underwent a massive four-year, $6.8 million renovation and reopened its doors again March 29, 1989, just in time for the Masters Golf Tournament.
